It's a girl!

We had the anatomy ultrasound today. For some reason, the OB scheduled it a bit earlier than normal (16 weeks when usually it is 18-20 weeks). Everything looked normal and healthy, although I found out that I have a huge fibroid tumor in my uterus. Not shocking, since they run in the family. The OB did not seem concerned about it crowding the baby, though. Interestingly enough, I saw it myself this morning at work when ultrasounding the baby. I just wasn't sure what it was. I'm proud that I noticed something abnormal though!

So, it is a girl, as I suspected. Evaline (Eva) Catherine will be her name. We're tossing around Evaline Robin too, after Jim's grandmother and my mother. Mostly because I think that naming your kids after yourself is kinda narcissistic. Jim does not agree. So, we'll see. Eva is pretty set in stone, at least.

In other small critter news, our first kitten of the season is thriving. He is fat as a tick and sincerely confused as to his species (or ours). He thinks either that he is a small, furry person or that we are large, hairless cats. Ah, the downside of bottle-raising singleton kittens. Alas, I could not find him a buddy. He will need a home soon though!

So excited for your new baby! Congrats on your baby girl! :)

And hopefully the tumor doesn't become a problem - my Mom had to have a hysterectomy at 44 because hers was the size of a grapefruit, and I already have multiple ones so I'm heading on the same track. ;)

Best of luck to you, and Eva is a beautiful name!

Family names (yours or another) are important, they help to tie in people to others. I LOVE all of the names!

*does a little happy dance*

Congratulations on your baby girl! It's nice your doctor scheduled your anatomy scan so early. I know some people pay to have one prior to 20 weeks. Time to go shopping now that you know!

Congrats! Thanks for sharing your sweet news. And the kitten...makes me miss my tiny fosters. Right now I have three 6 month old fosters that are getting over colds. I agree that raising single kittens is so much harder! While I love my foster kittens I also wished more people spayed and neutered so it would be less of a problem.

Are you using plain old clay litter???? I hope so! Congratulations! Both of the two names you two have considered/chosen are just beautiful!

Thanks for all the congratulations! I am so excited that I can't wait for the next 5 months to pass. I keep telling myself to enjoy my "freedom" now...but really, I'm itching to get to the baby in my arms part!

And yes, Weldr, I am definitely using clay litter. I use it for all my foster kittens!
