Interesting veterinary reading

While I make it a policy not to get riled up by stuff I read on the internet, see on the news, or generally hear from any media outlet, this article almost made my blood boil:

Thankfully, a local veterinarian wrote a thoughtful rebuttal. Still, this article explains the mentality of many people I see...

Owners who are not willing to pay the veterinarian for veterinary care will never become good clients.

I read this article, too, in the AVMA news feed on FB. I hear this BS in person all the time. Every time too many people tell me I'm just like an old-time veterinarian, I know it's time to raise my prices again.

Sadly, the people that complain about costs are probably the ones that never have seen how incredibly expensive their OWN medical care is. $500 for Fluffy is CHEAP for say, like an MRI or something (no idea if that's a real price). Things are tons more expensive on humans, much less that you have to go to multiple different "specialists" (physician, dentist, whatever) for different types of care.

Veterinarians are all of that in one. People apparently just don't realize this - and oh my gosh, needing support people! You mean veterinarians aren't magicians, too? Imagine my surprise.

Sigh. Some people...
